When I was a little girl I had a dollhouse; it's one of my fondest memories. Pretending to be a mother and sending my little doll figures all around the house. What fun!
Doll houses have been around since the 18th century and were initially all hand-made until their popularity grew around WWII and were then being produced in masses. Even now, doll houses are the dreams of little girls (and some adults) everywhere.
More great fun can be had by purchasing a doll house that you assemble yourself with your child. It's great bonding time for you a your little one. Even some adults are doll house collectors. It's great fun to be had by all!
Dollhouses are so much fun! Just about anything you see in a house, you can have in a dollhouse. Some dollhouses even come with real working elevators in them! There are miniature pets, chairs,food items, cookware, toilets and more!

Hey there, september girl! It was definitely a walk down memory lane for me, too. I think people forget about doll houses nowadays because there are so many new electronic gadgets out there. Sometimes, it's just as much fun to have some good 'ole imagination, you know?
I love doll houses and still look at them whenever I go into the toy department in the little girl section. My grandfather had built one that we played with as a girl. Had a real door with a knob to enter the house, and hooked up with tiny flashlight size light bulbs. I loved it! Not sure whatever happened to it, but I suspect it was sold when we moved cross states. Great hub, thoroughly enjoyed it. : )
I love dollhouses. My dad made one for me when I was a little girl and I spent hours playing "pretend" with it. All those cute little pieces of furniture! They have much better furniture and accessories now than they did back then! Thanks for commenting!
Nice hub. My Aunt has been making dollhouses and filling them with miniatures for years.

I have to admit...I still look at doll houses whenever I am at a store like Target, and get over to the toy section for girls. Great hub! Thanks for the share. Wow!! what a doll house! : )
